WHAT IS THE GREEN PEEL®?

The Power of Herbs

The world-famous herbal Green Peel® was patented and founded over 60 years ago by German Dermatologist, Allergist, and Botanist Dr. Christine Schrammek. She discovered the healing power of enzymes within herbs to create the most natural way to exfoliate and enhance the skin.

The Green Peel® contains over 100 different plants and flowers ground up into a powder, mixed with a few solutions, and made into a scrub. The scrub is then applied to the skin by a trained, certified, licensed professional during a custom 60-minute facial. The herbs are scrubbed into the skin for 10 minutes, temporarily stopping the barrier function of the skin (the outermost protective layer of the skin, aka the horny layer) to allow the penetration of the herbs to reach the active layer of the skin, the dermis. The enzymes react in the skin to increase blood flow to the skin cells creating skin cell proliferation, aka the formation of new skin cells.

Five days post-treatment the skin will shed an entire layer to leave behind brand-new, baby-smooth skin. Three full classic treatments remove up to seven years of aged, damaged, and/or distressed skin. If desired, treatments are spaced out 30 days apart.

What Results Should You Expect?

  • If you have dark spots from picking or red spots left over from acne, expect 80% clarity after one treatment.
  • If you have fine lines and wrinkles expect them to appear significantly less noticeable, especially if you start treatments at a younger age. Remember, three green peels remove seven years of damage to the skin.
  • If you have rough, uneven, textured skin, you can expect incredibly smooth, soft, healthy skin after just one treatment.
  • If you have cystic acne or a bad flare-up, expect all the inflammation to dissolve and for 75%-90% overall clarity.

What is the Downtime?

When doing a full classic Green Peel®, you should expect five days of downtime. This means for the next five days you are NOT allowed to work out/excessively sweat, or most importantly wash your face with water. No water can touch your face or it will neutralize the tiny little herbs in your pores and worse case cause you to get white pustules/pimples. You are only allowed to use the products given to you the day of your green peel as your aftercare. If you take hot showers, you have to make them quick, for the steam can also cause the same effect as water and neutralize the herbs, ultimately defeating the purpose of the Green Peel®

For the next five days, you will be using a moisturizer, a toner, and the most amazing, life-changing product of them all: blemish balm.

(Below image is taken three days into the Green Peel®, please note: some of you may peel a lot, others may not. This does not mean you are not going to see results; everyone's skin is different)!

What is Blemish Balm and Why do I Need it?

Blemish balm was created specifically for the intended use after a Green Peel®. It acts as the protective layer of your skin (since it was just scrubbed away by the herbs). The special cream supports the skin regeneration process and at the same time conceals the blemished complexion. The blemish balm Dr. Christine Schrammek invented with its double effect is the model all BB creams are based on today!

Even after your Green Peel®, please feel free to use blemish balm as a spot treatment on any dark spots, acne, or as I like to do, a full coverage “foundation.” It gives that perfect effortless makeup look, without makeup. Not to mention, it is also a full-coverage sunscreen made with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.

Are There Any Contraindications or Side Effects?

You are not allowed near the sun immediately after the green peel is performed and more cautiously, you DO NOT want to catch a sunburn for the next 2-3 months. The result if you do will cause melasma, which is an irreversible hyperpigmentation that WILL come out if you go near the sun on this peel, and even for months after. Please be super cautious of this and be aware to keep your face out of the sun!

If you have any allergies, be sure to speak up before getting the Green Peel®.

If you use a retinol or take any oral medications that make your skin photosensitive (meaning you’re more susceptible to burning) you will need to stop taking them for 2-4 weeks before your treatment.

The only major side effect of the Green Peel® treatment is sensitive skin. The scrub just removed the outermost protective layer of your skin, so you can imagine how tender that would feel. It is most definitely tolerable, but it will almost feel like glass shards are on your skin for the first 1-3 days. This sensation is most noticeable to the touch, so you will feel it the most when you put on the aftercare that I provide you. The biggest thing I recommend is that you do NOT touch your face with dirty hands, or pick at your face during the five days of downtime whatsoever. Let your skin naturally heal and only touch it when applying your aftercare.

What is the Difference Between a Green Peel® and a Chemical Peel?

Similar to a Green Peel®, chemical peels force the skin to exfoliate, revealing brand-new skin within a short amount of time. This is done by topically applying a chemical solution to the outermost layer of skin which creates a controlled injury, forcing the top layer of skin to shed and reveal new skin. There are a few different levels of chemical peels, light, medium, and deep. What I dislike most about chemical peels are the risks involved. These risks include redness, scabbing and swelling, scarring, changes in skin color (hyperpigmentation), infection, and worst case, heart kidney, or liver damage. A deep chemical peel uses carbolic acid (phenol), which can damage the heart muscle and cause the heart to beat irregularly. Phenol can also harm the kidneys and liver.

Now, the Green Peel® uses naturally derived plants and flowers to exfoliate the outermost layer of skin. Enzymes within the plants work to break down the keratin protein in the upper layer of the skin, which bonds dead skin cells together. This allows the plant ingredients to reach the epidermis to a predetermined depth and induce the formation of mediators via controlled cell irritation and protein precipitation. This ensures an increase in cell and fiber proliferation by increasing blood circulation which activates the skin's metabolism. The increased internal tissue pressure activates the regeneration of superficial micro traumatization. These processes combined with the formation of the new horny layer create brand-new, plump, hydrated skin.

In my personal experience of working in dermatology and skincare for almost 10 years and performing chemical peels, lasers, microneedling, dermabrasions, etc. I have seen the fastest and most effective results with the Green Peel®. This treatment and the power of botanical ingredients was the inspiration in developing Rated X Skin products.

What is the Cost of a Green Peel®?

Green peels range from $350-$950 for one treatment, depending on the city/state in which you receive the treatment and who is preforming it.

I charge $550 per treatment with a potential added travel fee.
